چکیده

Based on Moore and Greitzer’s model [15], the surge behavior of axial flow compression system was found to be attributed to the appearance of Andronov-Hopf bifurcationin [12]. In this paper, we focus on the design of control law to prevent and/or delay the occurrence of the bifurcations, which will then suppress the surge behavior. Both types of linear dynamic state feedback and linear washout filter controllers are proposed. The proposed washout design does not require the explicit knowledge of the operating point and keep the original equilibrium characteristic while the dynamic feedback design will change the equilibrium operating points for pre-surge and post-surge regime. In addition, the washout type control scheme can relax the implementation of the control law in the practical applications. Numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed designs and the superiority of the washout filter scheme.

Development of a compression system dynamic simulation code for testing and designing of anti-surge control system

In recent years, several research activities have been conducted to develop knowledge in analysis, design and optimization of compressor anti-surge control system. Since the anti-surge control testing on a full-scale compressor is limited to possible consequences of failure, and also the experimental facility can be expensive to set up control strategies and logic, design process often involves...

Modelling and Quasilinear Control of Compressor Surge and Rotating Stall Vibrations

An unsteady nonlinear and extended version of the Moore-Greitzer model is developed to facilitate the synthesis of a quasilinear stall vibration controller. The controller is synthesised in two steps. The first step defines the equilibrium point and ensures that the desired equilibrium point is stable. In the second step, the margin of stability at the equilibrium point is tuned or increased by...

Robustness of the Moore-Greitzer Compressor Model's Surge Subsystem with New Dynamic Output Feedback Controllers

This work presents an extension of a design procedure for dynamic output feedback design for systems with nonlinearities satisfying quadratic constraints. In this work we used an axial gas compressor model described by the 3-state Moore-Greitzer compressor model (MG) that has some challenges for output feedback control design (Planovsky and Nikolaev 1990), (Rubanova 2013). The more general cons...

Modeling and control of compressor flow instabilities

Stable operation of both axial and radial compressors is constrained by the occurence of aerodynamic flow instabilities: rotating stall and surge. Developments in the understanding of the physics behind these instabilities and ideas of how t o stabilize the compressor system, have opened the door t o a new era in the field of compressor control. This study gives an overview of the current state...
